Bozarthzone! Brain Bandwidth: Reducing Cognitive Load

August 23, 2016

Instructor: Jane Bozarth

BozarthZone!

Trainers and instructional designers know that much instruction simply places too many demands on learners in terms of volume, clarity, and memory. This session provides an overview of cognitive load considerations in instructional design. Particular emphasis is placed on how information can be presented in such a way as to avoid overloading the recipient's ability to receive, process, and understand the information (i.e., their "brain bandwidth").

101 Ways to Expand Learning Beyond the Classroom

May 3, 2016

Instructor: Elaine Biech

Insyncbyte20

As today's talent development professional, you have multiple options for delivering learning to employees. The 70-20-10 model (70% hands-on experiences; 20% developmental interactions; 10% formal learning) continues to serve as a valuable guideline for using the wide variety of developmental options available.

We are experts in the 10% domain-delivering training or programs-but what's our role beyond instructor led training? How do we create and deliver personalized developmental experiences? How can we support social learning? How can we ensure employees are immersed in the “right” experiential learning? What is our role to influence the interaction between employees and their supervisors? How can we stimulate informal learning? This webinar will help you look beyond virtual and traditional classrooms to expand your learners’ options.

Enabling Virtual Learning by Design (ATD)

We all know that the use of virtual classrooms, e-learning, and blended learning has gone beyond a trend to become an accepted and permanent part of the learning mix. It’s hard to find a subject that isn’t, in some form and at some level, taught online. With so much content and technology readily available, why don’t people seem to be learning more? And why do so many people feel like they’re being forced to learn online?

One of the answers is easy to identify. Virtual learning is NOT about the technology. Although organizations are spending money on technology, they’re rarely investing in resources that create effective learning environments. They’re treating virtual training and blended learning implementations as technology initiatives rather than change initiatives.
