#ASTD2014 Monday Morning Highlights

Are you here? Can you feel it? The halls of the Walter E. Washington Conference Center are buzzing with 9000+ ASTD 2014 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE & EXPOSITION attendees.

I go to a lot of conferences, but you rarely see so many energized participants as at this annual event.

Conference Highlights so far:

Arianna Huffington Kicked off Monday with a keynote address based on her recent book "Thrive:The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder." Arianna was witty and relevant - I bought the book! (I rarely 'buy the book.') I am also going to take advantage of her offer to email her questions about her session. (Yep, she gave out her email to a bunch of trainers. Hope she has help! )

I was trying to find the best way to summarize this session and then i saw Clark Quinn's great mindmap of the keynote session. Definitely take a look.

Last night I attended the private launch party for the new ASTD Handbook: The Definitive Reference for Training & Development (2nd Edition) - hard to believe it's been 5 years since we put out the last one.  With almost 100 authors contributing to this project, it's a must have.

Met up with David Smith of TMA World, Trish Uhl of Owl's Ledge, and a ton of other folks for a Tweet Up at the Hard Rock Cafe- amazing how people that only know each other via Twitter can connect so easily.

Speaking of Twitter - there is a very active conversation going on via #ASTD2014. If you can't be here (or if you are here and are afraid of missing something) you can catch up there.

Next up, exploring the expo and attending Effective Implementation of the 70:20:10 Framework with Charles Jennings.
