A Rose by Any Other Name

26105628_s.jpgWhen my kids were growing up, we started a ritual at the dinner table every night where each of us would take a turn answering the question, “What did you learn today?” Everyone had to answer, and when guests came to visit, they were encouraged to participate as well. At times the kids would roll their eyes and get cranky, but most of the time they were eager for their turn so that they could share.

We were a house full of educators, where teaching and learning came first. What each of us learned that day, no matter how small, prompted our conversations, debates, arguments, and laughter.

Getting Ready to Learn [Reflections on my Blended Learning Journey]

Posted by Jennifer Hofmann on Mar 29, 2016 1:00:00 PM

I am very excited! I was just accepted into a fabulous professional development program, as a learner. It’s a blended program, with two four-day onsites, 16 virtual WebEx classes, collaborative group work, and online discussions.

The Modern Virtual Classroom Requires Personal Digital Presence

Posted by Jennifer Hofmann on Nov 5, 2015 8:30:00 AM

Pencil_with_musicThis November I am exploring Digital Writing Month, a “30 Day Adventure to the World of Digital Narrative and Art.”

The November 4 2015 post by Rusul AlRubail concludes with:

Digital writing merges traditional forms of writing with the digital world. “Digital” does not refer to the tool. “Digital” refers to our presence on these tools and platforms, how we exist, behave and interact with others using the same space we are.

If digital writing merges traditional forms of writing with the digital world (read the post!), then digital conversation merges traditional ways of “talking” with digital expression. This concept of how we incorporate personal digital expression will influence the evolution and future of #edtech.  This is a future where ‘”e-learning” becomes “learning.” Where “virtual classrooms” become “real” classrooms. Where the way one chooses to communicate doesn’t matter because all forms of communication are equivalent.

Show Your Work: Book Review

Posted by Jennifer Hofmann on May 26, 2014 11:00:00 AM
Do you work? Do you ever talk about your work? If so, then you should be showing your work, and sharing the wealth of knowledge that you (and all of us) tend to hoard.
